Cotton University, Guwahati: Cotton University (formerly known as Cotton College) is a Public State University located in Guwahati, Assam, India. Formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It was established in 2017 by the provisions of an Act enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly to merge Cotton College State University and Cotton College. Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat: Jorhat Engineering College, a premier technical institute of North East India has completed its 62 years of relentless service to society. The college started functioning with its first batch of students in Civil Engineering on the 10th of October, 1960. The college, affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University, currently offers AICTE-recognized B. The Assam Royal Global University, under the Umbrella of the Royal Group of Institutions, has been established by The Assam Royal Global University Bill, passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly and the same has been assented by the Honorable Governor of Assam. B. Borooah College, Guwahati: B. Borooah College was established in the year 1943 in the name of Bholanath Borooah, a doyen of Assamese business and a close associate of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah.It grew under the shadow of World War II and as a part of the nationalistic struggle against foreign rule. Classes (evening) started from 13th of September 1943 with 15 students in the premises of Kamrup Academy H.S. School. The pioneers of the college first started it as a night college in order to give an opportunity to the poor students to pursue their higher studies as they earned their livelihood during the day. The college has been associated with the names of many illustrious personalities.
Bhola Nath College, Dhubri: B. N. College, or Bhola Nath College of Dhubri is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in Western Assam, India. The college was established in 1946 mainly from the donations of the Lakhipur Estate Zamindar family of the Late Bhola Nath Choudhury. Accordingly, the college was named Bhola Nath College.
