The vacancies under UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2027 are divided into the following four categories:

UPSC ESE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess an eligible engineering qualification for admission to the UPSC Engineering Services Examination.
A candidate must have fulfilled any of the following qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering from a university established by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or from an institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
- Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).
- Obtained an Engineering degree or diploma from a foreign university, college or institution under conditions recognized by the Government.
- Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
- Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
- Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London, conducted after November 1959.
Additional Qualification for Certain Posts
For specific posts, additional qualifications may also be accepted.
Indian Naval Armament Service – Electronics Engineering Posts
Candidates may possess any of the prescribed engineering qualifications or an M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’
Candidates may possess any of the prescribed engineering qualifications or:
- M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a subject; or
- Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication, Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.
